very good lens. I use it when I visit interesting places. Good results using CPL and half grey.

Any 12-24mm owner miss 10-12mm?

I'm thinking about Sigma 10-20, Pentax 12-24 and upcoming Tamron 10-24mm.
This post is going back a bit but something should be mentioned. [and I see that you got the lens and have put it to good use ) It's important to keep in mind the 12-24/4 is a rectilinear while the lenses that go to 10m are fisheyes... very different characteristics.

I'm pretty certain the Sigma 10-20 is rectilinear and that the future tamron will be as well. As such the Sigma has a significantly narrower FOV at 10mm than the Fisheye pentax does. I've seen a comparison around of the same scene with these two lenses (10-17mm FE / Sigma 10-20) I'll see if I can find it...

?? Really ?? I'd looked @ so many wide angles on Sigma's website a few weeks back that were all fisheyes [primes I guess] I'd just lumped their zoom in with them. 1000 pardons in that case.

The Sigma is rectal :-) People buy it instead of the fisheye because they don't want "fisheye", or don't want to spend the extra on the Pentax 12-24.

Well, I found the bookmark, but the pbase account's been closed. The Wayback Machine has an archive of the page, but with no photos - there still a discussion of the 10-20 vs the 10-17, but the photos were very informative.

Having owned both, the 12-24mm is the IQ winner. I'm not missing the xtra 2mm at the front and the add'l 4mm at the rear is nice. Build quality is about the same.

Wow, I was looking for samples of the 12-24 and boy, did I ever get an eyeful. Thanks all for the wonderful shots posted. Now I remember what I was missing about my Canon 17-40 F4!

Thought I might have been happy with the DA 21mm, looking at the 12mm extreme wide shots, I don't think I'm as interested as before. Simply hard to beat that super wide look and feel.

Pasadena City hall at 12mm. Not sure why the image is so small. It was 800+ pixels...
