Any 12-24mm owner miss 10-12mm?

I'm thinking about Sigma 10-20, Pentax 12-24 and upcoming Tamron 10-24mm.

After some thought, I'm sure that I want the 20-24mm "tele" end of the zoom.
But I'm not sure if I need 10-12mm that much. So I'm asking you, do some of you miss the lack of super duper ultra wide 10-11mm?

I have just sold my DA 21/3.2 and FA 28/2.8 And now I want a wide zoom.
Have also sold both my K10D's and I'm soon a K20D owner.

Nice pic's, everyone.

Edit: I decided to go for it. I bought the DA12-24 from prodigital2000. About 578USD with S&H and taxes.
I hope I did the right thing and the new Tamron 10-24mm is poop

No shots to post yet with the 12-24mm pentax. It just arrived from prodigital2000 with a cokin filter for $471 due to the favorable US$ (i made them an offer on ebay). I fired off a couple of test shots in the living room and compared them with those from the sigma 10-20mm from a previous shot. the 12-24mm is definitely sharper. My 10-20mm sigma was lost while returning it to sigma for a focus issue. While the loss is being resolved, I couldn't pass up such a good price on the 12-24mm pentax. The sigma cost me almost the same $ amount 2 years ago. I don't think I'll miss the 2mm on the wide end and i'm very happy with the pentax. After seeing all the great shots in this thread, i'm looking forward to getting out with this lens as soon as the snow stops falling

.

I've never used the Sigma, so I can't say if I'd miss the 10-12mm.

I would miss the 20-24mm on the long end, though, if I traded 12-24 for 10-20.
That 20-24 allows me to use the lens like a normal walkabout - 24mm is a pretty
usable short portrait length:

Then again, so is 12mm!

I bought a Sigma 10-20 thinking I could maybe sell the 12-24 and pocket the difference, but haven't had any luck. I'd like the extra 2mm, but I wonder how much is just me knowing that it's 2mm longer. Maybe I'll have to do some back to back tests just to see what I'm giving up. The Pentax is a very nice lens though.

Hi again. I will have the DA12-24mm next week and have questions about filters.

If I use 77mm ND filters, would I get more vignetting?
Is it best to use a step-up ring 77-82 or 77-86 with a 82 or 86mm filter?
Would a 82 or 86mm filter fit with the lens hood on?

The filter diameter is large enough, I think. If you look at the second and last photo of my post, a circular polarizer filter was used...

The large filter diameter most certainly was chosen to avoid vignetting... Stacking might not work so well though.

The lens is designed to accomodate a 77mm filter - I use a UV filter permanently mounted on the lens and there is no visible vignetting at all. Stacking two filters might be a problem at the wide end, though.

I finally got the DA12-24mm and I love it. Great lens.
I bought it from PD2000. I got an Cokin UV filter with the lens.

My first pictures with DA12-24mm.

Man, there's some great pics on this thread! Well done everyone!

So we're getting some unusually bad/cold weather here in pdx, so had to go out and get some pics.
