Pentax DA50mm + 52mm Teleconverter :?

Hello guys,

just got a DA 50mm 1.8 lens. I also have a couple of other lenses - but for the sake of traveling light wondered if I could spice things up a bit without a huge drop in IQ.

Has anyone ever tried the front mounted Teleconverters 2x 52mm threaded on their DA 50??

Would be really interested to see which ones produce decent results as if we can pull a 100mm/ F~3.2 it would be rather nice.

Thanks in advance.

If you really want a quality 100mm look for a FA 100/3.5 Macro. Or one of it's Phoenix/Vivitar/Promaster/Cosina branded versions.

I just got the Phoenix AF version for ~$80.

When a friend of mine asked I told him not worth the cost of shipping. He said "it's free shipping". I said yes I know.

Not sure where you get dem 100mm for 80bucks... Here i Europe can't seem to find one.

+ the price is still higher but I realize that iq might be better overall..

Even if the 100mm are a bit more expensive, a 135mm might fit the bill. The M135 3.5 can be had cheaply, like many other lenses of the same focal length. I have a huge pile of them, in fact I could probably stack them up and build a wee house to live in, but each of them will produce really nice results. Except that Japanese-made Prakticar 135/2.8 - if I put a beer bottles be my camera I would get more contrast, resolution and detail.

Not interested in manual focus lenses for the time being... Got a pile of them also :-D

The sub par 100usd af 100mm + lenses sort of fit...

Maybe a 70-300 Sigma apo dg... But it doesn't seem to be as sharp...
