Zewak: "Not really, it's quite a rare lens. It does not show up often for sale. Back in the days Schneider was ranked among the top lenses, even more expensive then the Carl Zeiss lenses. I saw some pricelist of lenses from the sixties and the Schneider topped it off, quite alot, like 200% .

I did not know that it was that good, I got it in a package of other lenses and it was in there, dusty and all. Took it up dusted it off and it was in great condition. I put it among the "lesser" lenses in my cabinet for a few weeks. And then I decided to take it out on a test run.

I took a few shots with it and returned to the computer for some pixelpeeping. And the first image I got up was this:"

Thank you, so much, for helping me out here. I too took the lens out in an unassuming kind of way and returned with shots of surprising and beautiful quality. What a treat to stumble upon this little gem.

Regards,

Ernest

There you can see pictures of my copy. I had to tighten some screws on it, the ones on the outside, did you also have that problem?

I love the Bokeh with the Schneider--this one @ f3.5, 1/200th, ISO 100

Have you considered the Jupiter-37A lens? IMHO this lens delivers the smoothest bokeh among the most 135mm f/3.5 lenses.

I only just noticed your question--my apologies. No, I have not had to tighten anything on the lens yet except for the M42 adapter when it goes on. I am seriously falling in love with this little lens. I do not think I could sell mine, but who knows.

Meyer Optic Orestor / Pentacon 135mm f/2.8 seems to have large fan following with regards to bokeh and sharpness. It is called 'Bokeh Monster'.
