Looking to add a lens (probably WR) for FF

Hi everyone,

Just got the K-1 to supplement/replace my K-3 and am looking to add a lens.

I have:
Pentax 50mm f/1.8
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8
Pentax 55-300mm f/4-5.8

I had the 55-300mm for the reach and the WR but it vignettes pretty heavily on the K-1, especially up close and in the middle of the focal length.

Anyone have good suggestions what to replace it with? Ideally WR so I have one at least, but I want to avoid having a lens would only use for the WR like the new 28-105mm since the image quality wouldn't be much better if at all then what I already have. I've considered the 50-500mm Sigma since it would give me roughly the same reach as 330mm on the K-3, but that's on the upper limit of what I want to spend. Under $1000. I normally shoot portraits, but I don't mind adding some versatility to my bag.

Thanks for the help!

Choices:
DA*300mm
DFA 150-450 maybe out of budget
One of the Sigma super zooms like the 150-500 of 50-500. New they might be too high but used should be in your budget but not WR.

Only choice for WR is the DFA 150-450 (or the 300mm)

Another thought is one of the FA zooms like the 100-300 or 80-320? Dirt cheap but maybe not long enough on FF. IQ might not match up either though we will see fairly soon. I have an FA 100-300 I want to try as soon as the K-1 arrives. Weighs nothing and easy to handle but not sure about the IQ yet.

FA 20-35? Not WR but adds a lot of wide angle options to your toolkit. More ideally the 15-30 but out of budget. The 150-450 is also out of budget.

Maybe a legacy long lens?

I have a Tamron Adaptall 60-300mm macro, and I love it. Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 60-300mm f/3.8-5.4 (23A) Lens Reviews - Tamron Adaptall Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database, Tamron SP Adaptall-2 60-300mm F/3.8-5.4 Model 23A

You might want to wait and see how the reviews come in for the 28-105. A full-frame "kit" lens on the K-1 might (emphasis on might) produce significantly better images than the standard zoom for a crop sensor camera. But we'll need to see how Pentaxians evaluate it.

For WR at your budget I would add the 24-70. If you can stretch it then the 150-450 is awesome. The DA*60-250 F/4 is supposedly FF compatible, so that is a though.

I've thought about it, but I've had a hard time justifying the upgrade since I have a 28-75. And yeah the 150-450 would be perfect, but $2K is more than my wife would let me spend

Thought about this too. I'm sure it would be a bit sharper than the 70-200mm and is the cheapest WR lens, but probably wouldn't get as much use since it isn't any faster and less versatile.

Seems like I am asking for too much for under $1k That, and I've already covered the major bases. Might have to see what the total cost difference is between the 28-105 and the 24-70 after selling the 28-75 and 55-300...
