HD 1.4xTC damage to lens?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere... But I noticed this statement on the review section of the HD 1.4xTC:

"Damage to the lens or converter may occur if the converter is used with the DA 15mm F4, DA 21mm F3.2, or DA 40mm F2.8 XS lenses; most other K-mount lenses are supported."

Why is this?

Perhaps it's a function of the TC that I don't fully understand?
Is it just not supposed to be used with lenses under 50mm? or is there something in particular with the DA limited lenses under DA70 that do not pair well with the HD 1.4xTC?

Sure, the DA21 will almost certainly provide better results than the DA15 with 1.4TC...
But why would the TC damage the lens, or vice versa?

Thanks!
Logan

The rear element of these lenses can contact the front element of the TC during focusing, as a result both the lens and the TC can be scratched.

BTW, I've used Kenko PZ-AF 1.4 TC with DA 15 without any problems. Perhaps, the front element of HD TC is bigger.

Rear element of the lens might touch front element of the TC at some focus points.

Interesting.. I just figured those DA lenses had enough recession in their rear elements.
I've never seen the mentioned DA lenses nor the TC in person so that explains my ignorance.

Thanks!

Why would you use a 1.4x tc with ANY of those listed lenses? because everyone needs a 17mm f5.6 in their bag? or a 56mm f4?

it was more a question for understanding compatibility rather than practicality.

... and wouldn't it be 21mm f5.6? Not that it makes a difference, lol.

Just don't ever try to use this 1.4 TC on your DA 15
