I think pentax 55-300 lens is better than its former brother 50-200, certainly the price is higher.

Based on the comparisons, focus function for 55-300 improved, I mean no longer "hesitatation", compared with 50-200

As for color,acutance and backround shade, we see 55-300 inherits the "pentax style".

I have bought 50-200 last month and had to well use it, haha.

Great review of the 55-300 & TC...

I've had my 55-300 a few weeks now & I'm delighted with it, great consumer zoom & definitely the best now available for the Pentax...

I was considering buying a TC to use with it but after my first few outings decided it wasn't a good idea. As with all consumer lenses the 55-300 is pretty slow & in anything other than bright light high-ish ISO is needed for hand-held shots.

I quickly came to the conclusion that the addition of the TC & its combination of 1 lost stop + slight image degradation wouldn't do the 55-300 justice.. the TC is now off my list !!

Resistance is futile.

I was shopping online and only meant to buy a few gels for some flash balancing, then click-click-click went the mouse button and ordered the 55-300 too.
