Lens For Motorsport

Hi Everyone ,
I have a K-30 which has now done over 250,000 images in 4 years and is coming up for replacement with a K-3 . I am into Motorsport and have a Pentax few short prime lenses Sigma 120-400 lens which is Ok , but is going to be replaced .

However at some of the smaller tracks the Sigma is just too long and I'm not sure which way to go , either a 50mm-135mm f/2.8 , 200mm f/2.8 prime and a 150-450mm or

70-200 f/2.8 , 300mm f/4 & 1.4 converter

advice would be greatly appreciated

I think you would get the most out of the 50-135 and 70-200 combination.

I have done some motor sports myself. The longest lens I have is a 500mm followed by a 70-300mm but I prefer my 28-200. My 28-200 seems to work the best and the last place I used it was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Whenever I have used my 70-300 or the 500, I must not have a good enough standing position to keep the cars centered in the lens, that is why I like my 28-200.

I would recommend the D FA* 70-200mm. Corner-to-corner perfection will let you crop like crazy, and even with the TC the results should be quite good.

it would probably help to know what motorsports you'll be shooting... drag racing, isle of man tt, rally, etc.

I have used the sigma 70-200 + 1.4x tc a lot. It gives you flexibility.
