Comparing Sigma lenses for birding.

I'm looking at the Sigma 50-500mm Bigma and the Sigma 150-500mm to use for birding. Does anyone have an idea which one would be better at 500mm? I'm talking about sharpness here. I can get both at about the same price and have to make a choice. Any opinions welcomed. Thanks.

Mike.

I think that they are the same at that focal so I'd go for the Bigma because it's so versatile: from 50 to 500mm... I don't own any so I'm speaking from pictures I've seen...

I have owned both. I believe the Forum staff also did a comparison review.

The 150-500 is slightly better than the 50-500 at the long end and weighs a pound or so less.

When putting together a kit for my GF, the 150-500 HSM was the choice.

The 150-500 is no longer in production and it's replacement isn't available in K mount so unless you are looking for used, the 50-500 will be your only choice. I own the 150-500 and am quite satisfied with it.

I own the 50-500 OS HSM, it is large and heavy. If you have no need for the wider end I would go for the 150-500. The only advantage you with the Bigma is you can buy it new. There a couple of 150-500's on Keh's website.
