What is your go to lens?

What is the lens you use the most?

My current set up is a K100d with the 18-55 kit lens, and a few manual k mount lenses for mucking about - SMCM 50mm f1.2, SMCA 50mm f2.0 and a Tamron 70-210mm f4-5.6 macro zoom. I like the 50's, but have a lot of trouble with them on longer shots, my ability to focus is improving, but still miss a lot of shot opportunities (especially with my three year old).

My on-the-camera-most-of-the-time is my DA* 16-50. The equivalent lens when I was using the MZ-S is the FA 24-90 (which my wife has mounted on same camera right now). 16=24 field of view, so guess where I am coming from.

We just spent two days at the Bar U Ranch, a Canadian National Historic Site, and on day 1 the lens was the 16-50. On day 2 I used the 12-24, just 'cause. I kept running off the long end of the 12-24, and almost switched back to the 16-50. Day 2 after supper in the campground, I tried out my A 70-210/4, chasing magpies around the campground road on my walk. For walk-about, I'll take the 16-50.

I like my Sigma 24mm f2.8. Its manual, but that's fine for architecture, my main topic. It's smaller than the kit lens, is why I like it.

Go to Lens

Tough call. I have a bag full of old Pentax glass. If I were restricted to a manual focus lens I would reach for the Pentax K 200 f 2.5. If only allowed an AF lens I'm grabbing my DA 70 limited. Both work well on my Pentax K10.

sigma 17-70

another enthusiastic vote for the sigma 17-70. I just really love the range. when i wanted more light, i replace it with the FA 35, FA 50, or sigma 70 macro.
my 70-200 and 10-17 is reserved when the right occasion come around
btw, my M 50 f1.7 is permanently attached to and extension ring set. It gets really sharp macro shots and could make my sigma70 macro jealous!
