I wonder how much sharper it is than the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 and how much heavier. Also, it can't be nearly as heavy as the K1 + DFA 150-450!
The weight specs and a few more per B and H:

The Pentax 70-200 for Pentax mount weighs 3.86 pounds, 77mm filter thread, Elements/Groups 19/16, and Diaphragm Blades 9 (Rounded)

The Pentax 150-450 for Pentax mount weighs 4.41 pounds, 86mm filter thread, Elements/Groups 18/14, and Diaphragm Blades 9 (Rounded)

The Tamron 70-200 for Pentax mount weighs 2.53 pounds, 77mm filter thread, Elements/Groups 18/13, and Diaphragm Blades 9

So I took the K1 and DFA* 70-200mm f/2.8 out tonight.
It's *sick* how awesome this combination is...(*sick* being slang for something that is beyond description).

These two pictures, and the three crops of the same image....

*Note - those little bits/dots of light are bugs/knats/no-seeums.

Does this combination make you want to RUN out and get a K1 and DFA*70-200mm?
I think we might need to have Pentaxian bake sales or something to get the K1 into needy Pentaxian hands.

Wow...this is just too good a combo.

<slow clap>

Well done Pentax/Ricoh. Well done.

Wow !
This is an amazing combo and the pictures are indeed showing high quality (IQ ?) .
I have no intention of buying a K-1 anytime soon but this could well make me change my mind!
Thanks for sharing.

I sincerely would be VERY surprised to hear diglloyd not say positive things about this glass. I couldn't find the comment so if somebody could please link to it (previous link does not go mention the DFA* at all :/ ).

The DFA* is a superb modern design optimized for high resolution sensors and produces very sharp, contrasty and optically superb images. Across the frame performance is superb and is as good as anything I have seen. Colours, distortion, sharpness have a character that manages a thoroughly modern rendering without looking too clinical.
I've found it to perform notably better than the Nikkor 70-200 2.8 (for tight headshots at the long end ... you get more than 135mm ).It has more consistent across the frame results than the Canon. More recently selling the FE70-200 F4 on Sony to move to this glass, it's been an optical move in the right direction, although it is noticeably heavier albeit much better constructed.
As the video here demonstrated it isn't quite as fast to focus as the 70-200 nikkor on D810, but still very fast on the K1. I'm guessing that may be partly due to different motor mechanisms and possibly also because there are bigger heavier glass elements in the Pentax. Trade off on optical quality. One thing to note is that accuracy of focus on the K1 is great too - I've not had to do any front/back focus adjustment at all at any focal lengths. I've very happy.

Reputable site such as ephotozine reviewed the new lenses on the K1...
