What lens should you have brought along?

A fun little survey!
  1. What one or two (and no more) lenses do you almost always have with you?
  2. What is the lens you most often wish you would have brought along and didn't? (And it has to be a lens you have, not one on your wish list.)

---------- Post added 06-20-16 at 11:15 PM ----------

I'll start.
1) The DA 18-135 is the one that's usually on the camera.
2) Unless I happened to have brought along the DA 10-17 FE, the one I wish I had brought along is my Rokinon 8mm FE. It's not that big or heavy, but it's oddly shaped so it doesn't easily fit in a small kit.

I've calculated the results after a day and about 35 responses HERE.

I almost always have the K 28mm f3.5 with me. Hmm, the second question is tougher. I almost always have my bases covered, but the last time I wish I had brought something that produces a nice bokeh (like Jupiter 9).

How about you?

With my KX, I almost always bring a K55/1.8 or M50/1.4 and a Vivitar A24/2.8 or Sigma Mini-Wide 28/2.4. I occasionally wish I had brought my A135/2.8, but not very often.

I carry most of my lenses with me: 24, 31, 43, 77, and usually the 100. Sometimes I leave that one behind.

The lens I usually don't have and miss is the 10-17 Fisheye. It's rare I want it so I don't carry it often unless I expect I will use it because there's only so much room in the bag and the other lenses are just more useful.

When I had my K-3, I always had my D-FA 100 WR and my HD 21mm. When it was dusty, and i didn't feel like swapping lenses, made me wish I had packed my Sigma 17-50 HSM. It was surprising good for flower closeups, and that's what I used the 100 WR for. Since moving to Nikon, kind of the same boat -- Tamron 90mm VC Macro, and my 24-120mm F4. It was really dusty at this year's Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, and learning a lesson from my previous frustrating experiences, I rolled with the 24-120 the rest of the way, and had no complaints on the output.

Since you indicated that we can only pick 2 and I always carry the Pentax-DA 40mm XS (due to it's size)......for wildlife reasons and where I live the Pentax-DA L 55-300mm is the lens I carry most of the time.

Your question is skewed though as my shoulder bag (which I almost always bring with me means I almost always have 3 or 4 lenses plus the 40mm XS.

If I wish I brought a lens and didn't it's usually a speciality lens and the only 2 I have are DA 10-17mm Fish-Eye or the Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro. This is usually because these often get left at home unless I expect to use them.......

1) The DA* 16-50 is my default lens.
2) I'm a pretty good planner yet I do not overpack. I guess the Sigma 50-500 is the lens I miss most often because I only bring that heavy lens when I know I'll need a lot of reach. Unexpected wildlife or aircraft when I'm in an urban area goes unphotographed.

1) I either pair DA15 and F28, or FA20 and DFA100wr. When i really want it to be light, I always go with FA20. but my FA 20 suddenly brakes last month during shooting
2) FA20, I could never bring it with me any more.

Aye for the one or two... my "Special Lady” (SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2) and "Lady Luck” (SMC Pentax-A* 135mm F1.8).

The one I should have brought along is my "Good Lady” (SMC Pentax-A 20mm F2.8).

Personally I prefer HD 20-40 Ltd for every day walk and for mountains.
A little wide, a little "normal", but always useful, very sharp and nice color gradation.
