1. I've come to like my M 120/2.8 because it gives me enough reach to take nice shots of the kids without them noticing they're being photographed. Manual shooting is still my favourite, but when I want to do some AF shooting I prefer the Sigma 70-200/2.8, as it's focal length suits both portraits and (to some degree) wildlife/sports.

2. Sometimes I wish I had a DA 50-135/2.8, or an A/M 200/2.8 or K 200/2.5. Sometimes the 70-200 is a bit too big and heavy - and too professional looking, so people want me to take photos for the sports club or community home page. A more "candid" lens with some reach and a fairly big aperture would be nice to have on those occasions.

Edit: Bugger! I see now that I flunked on the second question. I forgot it should be a lens that I have. I can't think of any particular lens that I wish I'd brought with me. If I've made the wrong choice for a shooting, I regret don't taking *that* lens with me instead. It depends on the situation.

1. HD20-40 Ltd as my go-to walkabout (compact for a zoom, great noise-free focus, and very sharp - especially using pixel-shift), plus the SMC55-300.

2. K50/1.2 when I have the time and inclination (but it's always in m'camera bag!)

If I need anything wider than 20mm then I take two portrait shots and stitch them together using Microsoft ICE, giving something like a 15 degree FOV.

1. The kit 18-55mm WR
2. The kit 18-55mm WR... time to look for wide (and wider) options...

Actually depends on where I am going!

For K-1 around hometown(s): I usually only take one prime (or the 28-105 if it's wet) depending on where I am going, but often find I wish I'd brought the Tammy 90mm macro along.

Travel: Depends on the trip (city, or landscpe, birds and animals?), but DFA 28-105 and FA77 and I'd miss the FA31 or the DA*200

A fun little survey!
  1. What one or two (and no more) lenses do you almost always have with you?
  2. What is the lens you most often wish you would have brought along and didn't? (And it has to be a lens you have, not one on your wish list.)

---------- Post added 06-20-16 at 11:15 PM ----------

I'll start.
1) The DA 18-135 is the one that's usually on the camera.
2) Unless I happened to have brought along the DA 10-17 FE, the one I wish I had brought along is my Rokinon 8mm FE. It's not that big or heavy, but it's oddly shaped so it doesn't easily fit in a small kit.
A lot depends on where I am going to but most of the time this is how I would answer your questions:
1. DA 21 and DA 40 Limiteds for sure and that is all of the time. they are so small and light, they go everywhere. You said two lenses, but in really I include a third, the DA 70 Limited.
2. Depending on where I am going, #2 would be either DFA 100 Macro WR or possibly HD DA 55 - 300.

1. FA43
2. DA14 or one of the wider SIgmas 15-30 or 24-60.

1) I participate in Single In - this answer changes so much it's pointless trying to detail it. My two lens kit for Father's Day was the 18-135 and the DA15.
The times I've really missed a lens that was actually in my possession rather than on a wishlist, it was my DA 18-250 superzoom of all things. I keep telling myself that maybe I should consider a DA 200* or 300*, but I don't go that high often enough to justify the cost. OTOH I took a snapshot of one of my kids the other day with the DA70 and the humble onboard flash, and the zoomed-in detail was incredible. I might never be able to buy a non-Limited, non-* lens again. Oh my aching wallet...

The two lenses I like to bring in a two lens set, are the DA 18-135, always and either DA*60-250 or the DA*200 ƒ2.8 depending on circumstances.

My first rule of digital photography would be "Zoom to fill the frame". In most cases, the cropping that happens using primes costs more resolution than using a bad lens. But if I know I'm going to be cropping as in long bird shots, I bring the 200. If I think I'll be able to zoom in tight I bring the 60-250.

The lens I most often wish I'd brought is the Sigma 8-16.

The lenses I bring as safety net type lenses, 21 ltd. 40 XS and sometimes the FA 50. The are small and light don't take much room in the camera bag. But they rarely get used.

The only one I don't always bring is the DFA 100 macro WR, so by default it's that one.

In my small grab bag I, always bring the DA 15, 35 ltd's stuck together with a double rear lens cap, the DA* 55 on the camera, and the F 100 2.8. What do I miss? I guess the 100-300 F4. That one requires the other bag and some real intentionality.

Thanks for playing along!
I'm creating a spreadsheet I'll share a little later after some more responses, but of the first 15 responses, 39 different lenses are mentioned! The one that's used the most or should have been brought along is the DA 10-17 FE, but that's only with a total of 4 votes.

Looks like wide-angles/fisheyes are by far the most common "wish I would have brought along and didn't" lens.

BEWARE: You'll not be satisfied until you get them all.
I've got all the DA Limited primes - I'm not interested in the zoom - and the FA Limiteds can follow at a slower pace.

The DA40 was my first Limited too - but then I was a rank amateur and what attracted me was the tiny size (the lens I bought with it was the DA18-250; from the sublime to the ridiculous). That little pancake proved to be incredibly useful; it's equivalent to 60mm on film, so only fractionally longer than the 58mm "long normal" of the Preset Takumar era, and though it loses a stop or so over the classic "normal fifties" its compactness made handling a breeze, especially indoors or when snapping a shot off hurriedly with one hand.

1. sigma 30mm f/1.4 and pentax 18-135mm are my default lenses.

2. sometimes i miss the sigma 10-20, sometimes the 55-300mm, sometimes the 15mm limited.. that's why I have so many lenses.
