I've jumped in! Now what?

After posting here off and on for a few months, I've finally "earned" my right to post here. The announcement of the K20D got my attention, and the promise of a pocketable 15mm lens (I sure hope it comes soon) further held my interest. I'd long lusted after the DA Limiteds for their small size. But the recent rebates finally made everything make sense, and I've just ordered my K20D kit, with a DA* 16-50, the 40mm Limited, some SD cards, a spare battery, and a cable release. Once I sell my system I'll add the 21mm, and hopefully the 70mm and 15mm. I'm selling a Canon EOS20D (20D to 20D... irony not lost on me) and 4 lenses. I started with a Pentax system ages ago, so this is something like going home. Yay.

Why did I post this in the Lens forum? Because I bought a 16-50!

I keep hearing that this is a great lens if you get a good sample. But I've heard of plenty of bad ones. What tests should I do as soon as I get the lens to be certain that I have a good one? What should I look for in order to identify a bad one? Please, spare no detail so that I might be certain.

Thanks,

Will
