300mm mirrors have always been around, both f/5.6 and 6.3, just not as popular as the 500mm f/8s.

There is a modern 300mm for m4/3. Very small... Tamron had an Adaptall 300/5.6 that was said to be sharp and generally lacking in ugly bokeh. Hard to find at a good price, it would be perfect for the Q...
Actually the Tamron Adaptall 06B is 350mm F5.6, relatively hard to get and expensive.

Indeed:

As also said above, the Tamron 06B actually was/is 350mm f/5.6. Regarding the bokeh, well...

That's an awesome photo! Where's the doughnut bokeh though? I'm going to get it now!

What is wrong with the Bokeh?

Thanks bessa-66. There are tiny donuts in the weed stacked on the shore.

Well, most people find the doughnut-bokeh as seen ín the background of blackbrid image kind of 'annoying'. But you judge for yourself.

I've not seen a mirror lens without the donut bokeh -- it is inherent in the design. Whether you will see it or not and how ugly it is depends on the background distance -- if you can get good subject isolation (i.e. bird on a branch with no branches in nearby background) you won't see it (faraway background will be creamy and smooth). So it just depends.

I don't mind it used like those photos, although it does look odd in some contexts

as stated above, the bokeh is going to be somewhat different - sometimes harsh and rather distracting:

or less so, depending upon the light source of the bokeh and distance between subject and background:

I have the Tamron 55BB 500mm lens, not the 350mm, but find it to be a fun, niche lens that can be quite sharp if I work at it...

I have the 55B (500 mirror) and find it a great lens! All my shots are hand held, and this lens delivers very nice results.

The forum has a mirror lens club thread. It's a good place to see a lot of examples of the kinds of pictures all of the forum members who like and use mirror lenses take with them. It's also a good place to learn about some of the better or more popular mirror lenses, and even some of the off-brand ones that can produce decent results. As for doughnut bokeh, some people know how to reduce it during or after the exposure, some people really don't stress out about it, and some people say it looks much more like Spaghettios than it looks like doughnuts.
