Geez!
I lost it there for a moment, thanks for getting back on track.
Originally posted by Venom3300 Actually according to his graphs, the DA* 300 has a considerable edge at 300mm.
IMHO, based on the kind of anecdotal observation straight up IQ etc. the DA* 300 remains top of the heap. I went for the DA*200 based on more flexibility almost like it was a zoom, with the possibility to use stacked 1.7 and 1.4 TCs as well as using them individual giving me 4 possible configurations. But, if I was a situation looking for the best IQ outcome based on fewer flexibility options I would have gone for the 300.
But I'm always looking for the most number of options with acceptable (for me) IQ. The DA*200 with ƒ2.8 was for me the tie breaker.
Some one else may have a more informed opinion on this, and hopefully folks will realize that unless they are looking for what I was looking for my advice and opinions are irrelevant to them. A lot of the time, I look at how many people shoot what I shoot, and wonder if I'm one of 3 people in the world with my shooting style and preferences.
Or in other words, this is what I think, but odds are, you'd be a fool to listen to me taking about lens selection, and making the same selection I do. The odds of what I shoot being right for someone else are pretty slim, regardless of how happy it makes me.
You'd almost be better to look at what I shoot and think "odds are, what's right for him shouldn't work for me." Kind of like reverse advice.
I'm still wondering if a K-1 can AF with a 150-450 and the 1.7 on it. I hang around these FF 150-450 threads hoping for the answer. I know AF doesn't work with my A-400 ƒ5.6 and the f 1.7x AF adapter. ƒ5.6 x 1.7 doesn't provide enough light for a k-3 AF system... but does it provide enough light for the K-1? Inquiring minds want to know.
Apparently no one owns both a 150-450 and a 1.7x adapter.
Come on people, does no one get how huge being able to AF my A-400 at 780mm on a K-1 would be in terms of making it a useful piece of kit? For me this is the $64,0000 question. K-1 or no K-1 pretty much depends on it.
