I saw one of these in silver being sold here on the forums about a year ago. I'm sure the price of this thing will sky rocket towards the end of the auction. I wonder how this fares and relates to the 43mm limited.

Of course they didn't, that lens was supposed to be launched in the 1980's along with the Pentax LX as I recall. There was also a K 300mm f/2 in the works.
There was an A 35/1.4 also (probably the same lens as the M one). Neither the M or the A version was ever made into production. The M lens was announced. The A lens was listed in some lens brochures/lists. Again, they don't exist.

Other lenses than never made it was the FA 18/2.8, FA* 150/2 and FA Limited 90/3.5 Macro.

I've seen mention of about 6-8 copies over the years, but I am the only person taking photos with it and posting them.

The other owners are probably hiding in a dark cave polishing their preciousss....
How did you find that gem? It is so nice.

There is a copy on ebay, asking price is way over the top, in my opinion.

The Takumar 100mm f3.5 is also pretty rare, at least in m42 mount. And then you have the preset Takumar 55mm f1.8 sold as standard lens on Asahi Pentax S,, as well as black version of the Auto-Takumar 55mm f1.8, black 58mm f2 for the original Ap, and Auto-Takumar 55mm f1,9 sold with the Tower 26.

Takumar 83mm 1.9 - Any bidders?
That lens is not that rare. Max price would up to 1000usd. Still a lot but. The m37 version in black and chrome is rare.

You're telling me we could have had a 90mm f/3.5 FA limited macro? is that just another rumor? or does pentax have a patent for such a lens?

This thread features some (ultra) rare achromatic and quartz Takumars. Scroll down to the 5th post.
I didn't read through the whole thread - it may contain more rarities...

It is a fact. It went to 1:2 magnification but would go to 1:1 with a supplied close-up lens or extention tube, which one was not decided at the time (I heard about it).
