Are you sure there wasn't an issue with autofocus with the Canon ? It looks odd to me that the 100-400 II don't resolve as much as DFA150-450, unless the optical antialias filter on the 5DIII also filter out all the details. From imaging resource comparometer, the K3 deliver images sharper than the 5DIII. You'd possible get the same drop of sharpness from a D750. The advantage of the K1 is that you can crop and still get decent resolution and more "reach'.

Canon is what all shops are selling, no matter what the quality is. Canon 5DIII is the highest quality gear of Canon , all the rest is built cheaper.
