Weather sealed lenses

Am I correct in my assumption that the only weather sealed lenses for pentax are the DA* series? I'm interested in doing some shots outdoors in the rain, since its raining for a good half the year here, and was wondering if there was a way I could avoid paying $600 for a weather sealed lens.

Your assumption is correct. The DA* (star) series are supposed to be weather "resistant". But to be honest, in this equation, I am the "hesitant" part the still "resists" to let my gear get wet, even if just slightly.

I find this comment kind of funny when read along with the resistance is futile in your sig.

There is another possible option depending on the intensity of the rain. You can try one of those 'raincoats' for the camera and lens. Just put a UV filter and hood on the lens. secure the hood as tightly as possible around the hood (electrical tape maybe?) and give it a test. A solid plastic bag that covers everything would do it as well.
