I've recently got my hands on a Tamron 17-35mm Di LD (for occasional use on a K-1) - but it came without a lens hood.
There don't appear to be any available that I can find - so I was wondering - since they both have a 77mm filter thread, can anyone definitively tell me if the hood from a Tamron 10-24mm will fit correctly on the 17-35, not only as a shade, but reversed over the lens when not being used? The 10-24 hood seems to be more readily available in both OEM and third party varieties.
Please note that I'm not interested in lens hoods that screw into the filter thread. Thanks.

I have the Tamron 17-35mm too. It came with an AD05 lens hood. This appears identical to the AB001 lens hood used on the Tamron 10-24mm APS-C lens. I can't say it will definitely fit the 17-35mm, but should be just as effective if it does, as 10-24mm on APS-C is a very similar focal range to 17mm to 35mm full frame so it's quite likely the same lens hood. You can find an OEM AB001 on ebay for not much over $US10 (including shipping) so it's probably worth taking a gamble.

How does the 17-35mm Di LD perform on the K-1? I hope to use mine on a K-1 later.

Thanks Mark. I wasn't really expecting too many responses, (after all, how many people would have experience with both of these lenses?), so I figured I had to take a chance on the AB001. It's on its way. I'll report the results back here, just in case the 1 or 2 people that may wonder the same thing in the future, happen across this thread!

I've literally only just received it - so only have a handful of indoor test shots. Once the hood arrives, I'll give it a thorough workout and post a couple of images here.

I've only used the Tamron 17-35mm on the K-5 so far. It replaced my DA 16-45mm as I started to gear up for full frame. I also bought a Tamrom SP AD 24-135mm the day the K-1 was announced as I thought it would be a good starter full frame lens. I'm interested to see how it performs on K-1 too. Hopefully I'll own a K-1 in the not too distant future.

If anyone remains interested, I can confirm that a third-party hood for a Tamron 10-24mm will correctly fit on the 17-35, not only as a shade, but reversed over the lens when not being used. It's a tight fit, but that may be because it's not OEM. It works as I'd hoped it would - so I'm quite pleased.

While I'd love to have the D-FA 15-30mm, I'm not really a wide-angle shooter, so can't justify its purchase for the handful of times a year I'd use it. Considering it cost me about a tenth of the price, the 17-35mm is definitely not 10 times worse:
