Tamron SP Di-II 10-24 F3.5-4.5

The kind member that loaned me the Tamron 500 Mirror, which I fell in love with, and he was gracious enough to sell it to me, has just sent me the Tamron SP Di-II 10-24 F3.5-4.5!

From the looks of it, I will be adding this to my stable!

This was taken @10mm with my K3.

I have one too for a few months and it ia quite nice if you value rendering rather than sharpness.

It was a good price, i thought in case its bad i can sell it fast and move on, but it impressed me enough to keep it at least until the new pentax is out (and hopefully doesnt cost a fortune)

I agree.

I had the Tammy 10-24 and the Sigma 10-20 together for a coupl'a weeks. The Sigma was somewhat sharper in the corners and wide open but it seemed too 'clinically' sharp and the cooler color rendering wasn't as agreeable for the WA scenes I wanted.

When shooting deliberately and at middle apertures as is common with WA's I found the Tamron to be the keeper owing to the image results I preferred.

Looks nice Carol - hope it works out for you. Don't forget to keep your feet out of the frame!

Starting to have seller's remorse about the copy I sold last month. I knew I'd miss it a bit.

I'm really loving it, so it will be costing me money! This lens is sharp, I don't need to do any sharpening in PP.

Looks like they are selling used for about $200 and new for around $300 on eBay anyway. I'm not seeing the sharpness, but i've got a 5k iMac 27" monitor too

Well, I only have a measly 22"W monitor. I'm pleased with the sharpness without any PP, I just wanted to post a shot showing what it can do without sharpening; and I'll be paying more than what you say they go for on EBay, for a mint copy from a trusted member here. Mine comes with both caps and the Tamron hood.

Really liking this lens. It would be most difficult to go back to only 18mm! BTW, those are not dust specks, rather caught a couple of birds flying thru the scene!

I'm considering in the future of replacing my 18-55WR with the Tammy 28-75 F2.8; any thoughts on this?

For what you do I'd do the 18-135 instead or possibly the 16-85. WR (keeps the dust out) and reasonably sharp and silent.

I agree. Years ago I tried pairing a wide angle APS-C zoom with an FF standard zoom and found that in practice it was not an ideal situation. I ended up swapping out lenses too often. One of the biggest advantages of zoom lenses, and one of the primary reasons for using them, is to avoid lens changes. The best way to do that is to have a standard zoom lens in one's lens' stable. Nor is there any reason to worry about overlap between WA and standard zooms. Overlap is good, because it reduces lens changes.
