Thanks for the shots. I can't seem to find any info on this lens when I google. Was wondering how it compares to the smc 50mm for sharpness.

Haven't really compared with the other fast 50s but wide open it is pretty much all bokeh. Will have to take it out for a spin.

It's not worth $350, if that's what you're wondering. But then I don't think any of these used lenses are worth what they go for.

Don't listen to me, I'm just a grumpy old man in his 30s.

Hehe. You can get a new A 50mm f/1.2 for $350. Guess what I chose?

Where? I haven't seen a new one for much less than $600.

I believe the Porst 55/1.2 was rebranded from the Cosina, I sold one for 30 € two years ago. I had bought it a little more that that. It was quite decent but difficult to use at 1.2

Ilya,
those are beautiful portraits, I like them! I've clicked your link to the rest of the portraits.
Focus is not so easy, right? Please consider posting pics in the
Cosina 55mm 1:1.2 Club

phenri,
I am sure the Porst is not the same as the Cosina, see my post here,

Thanks George,

Yea focus is by no means easy, i dispose of 2/3 of the shots i make. This is my first manual focus lens, but i always shoot wide open

I`ll gladly post some pics in the thread you mentioned, if I find something looking nice among my pictures.

If the Cosina 55/1.2 is of the same manufacturing as the Porst 55/1.2, as said above, I have some experience with it.

Back in the film days, I had MZ-5 and the Porst. Thing is that I could not get the focusing confirmation led (or, then of course, the focus trap) to work with the lens wide open at f: 1.2 . It worked at f :2 though.

I then got the SMC (K) 50/1.2 and the focus confirmation worked spot on with the Pentax lens wide open. Switching lens a couple of times just to make sure, same result.

Seems like the Porst was way too soft for getting the focus confirmation to work on the MZ-5

I then sold the lens and never looked back. I still have the SMC 50/1.2 and I love it.
