ive been considering buying a k100d did for a few months now and i came across my grandfathers bag of photography gear , in it was a yashica tl electro x and 3 lenses . my question is will this lens work on a k100d with a adapter ring, is it a good lens and whats the difference if i got a similar lens made recently as compared to one im guessing was made in the 70's or early 80's?(it looks practically brand new)

Yashica SLRs used M42 screwmount lenses, if I am not mistaken, so an adapter ring should be all you need.

I'd get the screwmount to K adapter and give those lenses a whirl. I now have used 3 lenses that are quite possibly older than me and they are all great.
