Re: Imagine life if all the legacy FA* come back to life in D-FA* form...

I have 2 FA* lenses (3, if you count 645 mount) and wouldn't mind one or two more (200mm macro, 250-600mm, maybe 600mm) because the optical designs are fine in my book. The lenses could use updates--new coatings, curved aperture blades, perhaps an in-lens motor, and certainly a finish that doesn't scratch so easily--but the best reason not to reuse them would be that current methods of manufacturing allow for even better designs, perhaps designs that weren't practical or even feasible 20 or 30 years ago but are today.

I'm surprised there isn't more push for a D-FA WR version of the FA 20 now that the K-1 is out. Not that it's a star or Limited lens, but it seems like there's some K-1 owners that like it.
Ooooh yeah. It is a star in my line up!!! I don't need the star designation to feel important as it simply delivers.

I was after a good 20 for my K-1..... something that would fit in a compact but good kit.... ie with the 31/43/77 or my K series 30/50/85..., nothing much around..... so giving a 20/3.5 Voigtlander a go. I would never trade small size (200gms) for WR or DC in lens focus. I consider lens hood size as part of overall lens size.....filter size is important as well.

So what do you think of the F*300 on the K-1? Do you have any photo's? On my K-3 it's fantastic. It's like an FA 31 only in 300mm.
The really nice F*300mm shots I took with the K-1 were "test" shots during the 1st week of K-1 ownership. They looked great, and I deleted soon afterwards to clear memory space for the Alaska trip.

I did take the F*300 on our Alaska vacation, but did not get any decent photos with it worth sharing here. We were at Denali and the F*300 was just not long enough for critter shots. The bears and caribou we saw were 'way out there'.

The Alaska 'vista' photos shot with the FA*24 & *28-70 mounted on MZ-S & K-1, most turned out really nice.
