My favorite lens.

.

My favorite lens pretty much changes week to week, but I've noticed something
lately - it always seems to come back to one lens in particular, again and again.

Some shots by it taken today are below. Some of you may know what lens this
is from other posts, but if you don't happen to know, have a look at my sig and
take a guess.

These are ISO 400 in not-so-good light, and were taken on a quick evening
walk through a nearby rock garden, but I like the results. This lens is so
easy.

Then here are some shots taken earlier today, and several weeks ago:

I'm still formulating my idea, but unless your cropping I don't think its an 85 as flower/bee shot is too close-focused for an 85, though the content of the shots on average seem to accomodate the field of view.

Something that close focuses, probably to at least 1:2 so that rules out a lot, though that daisy flower you show is reminicent of the 50-135 bokeh-wise based on your previous samples.

If its something you keep coming back to, its probably small enough to pack around and easier to use without an adapter. This also rules out a lot.

This leaves only 3 - DA35, Viv 105 & Sigma70. You just got the Sigma so that leaves two.

Bike shot looks tele to me, around 100mm.

Its the Viv105.

EDIT, and hey, it looks real nice the way you wield it

EDIT EDIT - hey, you just mentioned in another thread its an 85... you cheated! haha.

Good thinking Pirate, but from the other post, I think it is M 85/2.
Nice shots!

These are wonderful pictures!

No need to carry around loads of lenses...
a single good one could suffice!

Yes, it's the M 85 f/2, and several are cropped. I can consider cropability a top
criteria for any lens, which is one of the reasons this is my favorite - it's one of my
most crop-able. If it wasn't for the slight ISO 400 noise artifacts in the low-light
cropping, I wouldn't be able to tell a crop from this lens from a full-sized image from
my 77ltd, or any other of my lenses besides my macro lenses.

It's just my favorite, for several reasons.

Wow, great shots as usual.

I love the kid shots! But I do always picture Jay as being a guy with big curly blond hair and rosy cheeks. I guess that's the fallout.
