Super Orion

Hi Forum
I have been reading along for quite some time, but now I thought it appropriate to register and ask for help.

Recently I purchased this Super Orion 28mm f/2.8 with Pentax K in a garage sell, thinking it was a interesting little thing and it is, not only rather heavy for its size and sturdily built but especially sinceI have not been able to find any information about this manufacture, reviews of similar lenses or anything, a part from it supposedly Korean. Do any of you have more info on this og links to further readings?

You might want to dig around in the lens info area:

Pentax Lenses by Sigma, Tamron, Zeiss, and more - Reviews and Specification Database - Pentax Lens Review Database

Maybe one of the 28mm's will look similar or spark some recognition.

It looks a lot like this Tokina 28mm f/2.8, right down to the color of the labeling:

Thank you, I will. But in the mean time I just uploaded a few more shots of the details.

The one I linked only goes to f/16 - but there were variants so perhaps still related.

That very unique DOF scale should be a strong indicator of the same lens in different garb. Good luck on your search.

Those look very much like a (non-Soviet) Helios MC 28mm f/2.8 - with the same distinctive DOF scale and very similar markings in general. Here's one on eBay, in M42 mount:

Thanks I've seen these Japanese Helios 28mm lenses before and thought I recognised similarities with this Super Orion, but had to quickly look online to confirm

The super orion with the m42 screw mount was used in the 70s" to 80"s for permanent 35 mm surveillance systems and used as a cine lens. Its korean ,a decent lens, not sealed .

I was going to apologise for reviving an old thread but it looks like the last response wasn't that long ago!

I just picked up a Super Orion zoom / macro lens for a bargain price. A nice solid piece of kit and decent optics, any idea if there is a website for the brand?
