Pentax K200-RMC tokina 80-200 1:4.5 lens with p/k mount

Lens fits, but camera shutter will not operate. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Check focus priority. Put camera in manual focus mode and be sure it is set to release when not in focus.

Thanks. this is new to me. I can't get it to work. Will stick with 28-80 until I learn more. Sorry about the mispost, again not familiar.

Does the aperture ring on the lens have an "A" setting? If so, set it to "A". My copy of this lens does. If it does not, set aperture with the ring, put camera in M mode, focus, press the green button, then take the shot. Make sure "Aperture ring allowed" is checked in your camera settings.
