NO!
K. Video recorders or camcorders
M. Cameras with telephoto lenses over 6 inches long!
My DA*60-250 is too long as will be any 70-200, but my DA* 200 ƒ2.8 is about 5 without the lens hood. But if it's a day game why not go with something like an F 70-210 if you can find one. ƒ5,6, very portable. For day games, it would be worth tracking one of these down, or even something like a Sigma 70-300 (about 5.5 inches.). For a day game there are lots of choice that will fit the bill. Even a 55-300.

This is a situation where stadium restrictions call for cheap glass.

Thats an easy rule to enforce by guards that dont understand focal lengths, crop factors etc. But also an easy rule to bend for us that know. Put an 800mm f/8 mirror telelens and a 2x TC on it and you can get close ups, although with messy background and high ISO noise.

Nobody notices if you change between the small limiteds. And I doubt they search trough your stuff when you arrive there.

The newest DA 55-300 f/4,5-6,3 PLM are actually short enough to fit three DA 1,4x teleconverters on it without breaking the 6 inch limit. Without hood and in its most compact position (55mm?) that is. So it depends on when they measure those 6 inches. At the entrance or when you use it.

I greatly appreciate you suggesting that i check stadium restrictions, i would have been upset if the would not let me into the ballpark. They do not allow camera bags, so i will attempt stuffing the small primes in my pockets

Interesting. I know that MLB ball parks not allow the lenses longer than 300mm, and bags bigger than 16"x16"x8". I had no problem with K-1 and DA*300mm at Marlins Park security check, and no one at told anything about TC x1.5 in my 16" bag
What park are you going to?

I'd do the 21 first, then add the 77 if I wanted a second, then either the 15 or the 31, depending on my mood...

And then I would basically forget the game and shoot photos of the family ☺

This lens is very popular on the forums, because it gives a good zoom range, good optical quality (though not quite on the same level as the DA and FA primes), and high end features like WR, QS and DC in a relatively compact, affordable package. I have practically never seen anyone argue against this lens on these forums. I have seen plenty of great photos taken with this lens posted to the forums, though I do not own one myself. But it does not quite have the fast aperture and the super amazing IQ of some primes. You have to identify your priorities and then select the best compromise

I'm one of the few naysayers as I was not impressed with the lens and subsequently sold it. I felt it was too close in IQ to the kit lenses. So why pay extra? If it were me, and you wanted an inexpensive all around zoom lens with decent IQ I'd pick the new D FA 28-105. I don't own one yet, but will be purchasing one for my wife as she prefers those focal lengths in a zoom.

I recently sold my 18-135 thinking I could do without it. Oh how poor a decision that was.

What did you try to use in place of it? I found that I can make the DA 20-40 Limited, DA* 50-135 combo work if I'm willing to carry the load of the larger bag and the IQ is crazy good but the 18-135 is pretty nice for an all around walk about lens. I hear that the 16-85 is pretty amazing as an alternative.

I wanted to use a DA*16-50 and 50-135 combo. The 50-135 is a stunner while the 16-50 is great but oh so heavy. It means I need a dedicated larger bag to carry everything, especially when I like to have my 100mm WR around too.

I liked the option of carrying a single lens come rain or shine.
