I can't speak to the Pentax 24/2.8. I did have a Pentax 24/3.5 but found it unsatisfactory due to sharpness fall off away from the centre (APS-C). I ended up with the Sigma 24mm/2,8 and regard it as a much better lens. Highly recommended--and, cheaper, too.

That's what I like in this Forum: very responsive people with very good advices! Thank a lot to all of you!

Pro:
- There is one available directly for ~180$ in really mint condition,
- It can be used on FF and APS-C, (neither the DA21 or the DA15 can),
- It is a good angle of View,
- It is probably a lot less expensive than the upcoming FF primes and less expensive than the Samyang 1.4 or sigma 1.8,
- Samples provided are good (I like the colours rendering)
- It is a SMC-A that will complete my list (A 50/1.7, A 135/2.8 and A 70-210/4) after more than 30 years,
- Focusing distance is very good,
- Not using battery too much (not AF),

Cons:
- Not the WOW factor,
- Relatively expensive compared to old sigma (but those are not available in my area),
- some copies seems to have softness in edges especially on APS-C,
- only 5 blades (not a problem as it is mainly for landscape and some astrophotography),

Ok, I need more feedback, please... any other thinkings to add to the list?

Hi!

I prefer my A24/2.8 compared to my Sigma EX24-60/2.8 @24mm.
Build is comparable to the A50/1.7.

Not the POP that the K35/3.5 gives.

But a good lens on crop at least.

When I decided I wanted the Sigma, I searched and searched and finally found one available from a dealer in the UK. Ended up costing me less than $100 shipped to Canada.

I've got the K24mm and it used to be my favorite wide angle when I was shooting film, although I'll admit I haven't used it as much once I switched to digital.

Hi, could you please show me what it is capable of? (and if you dare, tell me how much it has cost)
Kind regards.

mine was acquired through a trade, but prices for the K-series 24mm run from $100 to $200, depending upon condition of the lens...

I uploaded a few film shots from my K24 yesterday with the intention of posting them, but got busy. Here's a couple.

Ok and the story continues...

I went to a pawn shop today and saw a SMC DA 35 2.8 macro for exactly the same price It's getting worse.
Ok the range is not the same, but it has macro and very good reviews...
Buy the two is impossible, I can only buy One.
Your choice????

DA 35 Macro all day long! If it's $180 then that is an *amazing* price for that lens. It's also a remarkable performer.

Thank you all,

I finally decided to go with my K-3 to test all of the lenses and I came back home.
The A-24mm was in very good shape but focus ring was rotating too much past infinite (not good for a lense I wanted essentially for landscape and astrophotography).

I will wait for bargains on a 15 and a 20,21 or 24...

Finally, I paid ~180$ and came back home with:

SMC PENTAX-DA 1:2.8 35mm Macro Limited
TAKUMAR-A 1:2.8 28mm
