70-200 Profile

Hello,

I just bought a DFA 70-200 to use with my k1. Took photos of my son playing football last night. Found out there's no profile in PS CS5 for it. Does anyone know if there's a way to update that? I thought about getting LR6 in hopes of having a more current RAW developer. I know I can use the software that came with my camera, but don't know if it has the profile either.

Thanks,

Bill

Just go on the Adobe Photography Plan and get the latest version of Lightroom and Photoshop for less per year than you would pay to upgrade them.

All the latest improvements and a RAW converter for all the latest cameras.

Regards

On the other hand, judging by the reviews (and the price) of that lens, I would be surprised if the distortion and CA are that much of an issue to warrant software correction.

I'm assuming the software that came with my k1 will have a profile for that lens. I haven't installed it yet as I use PS CS5 for everything. I knew that wouldn't last when the Cloud version appeared. I just don't edit enough to pay for an ongoing subscription.

And yes, even though I've only used the DFA 70-200 one day, all the photo's I took came out nice. No CA correction needed, just a little distortion, but I think there is more to the correction than that. I know there is the vignette correction as well. Nothing much there either as far as I could tell.

I shot most of my son's football game at ISO 3200/6400. K1 had some noise, but Topaz DN6 handled it perfectly. I really like that program. Guess I shouldn't say that. They might make it cloud only as well.

I was using my DA* 50-135 on my k1 in FF mode for the previous games. Worked great, but I wanted a little more reach. Needed to crop a little but at 135mm it's nice. Going from a k5iis/50-135 combo to a k1/70-200 was a bit of a shock.

The lens is really nice though...

Thanks for the comments regarding Pentax D-FA 70-200mm. I have been planning to get this lens but did not fine many reviews. Could you please let me know how is the sharpness at F2.8 at various focal lengths? I do not care about extreme border (just at the center and a little off-center is what I am looking for). Also any noticeable change/improvement in stopping down to F4 or F5.6?

I have used both Canon and Nikon 70-200 lenses and both of them are great. Though Nikon has focus breathing, it is very sharp less.

It doesn't need very much correction. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you are shooting something like architectural work that has a lot of vertical or horizontal lines.
