Should I keep my Tamron 75-300 4-5.6 or Tamron 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 LD?

Hi all!
I would like your opinion/help.
I have a Pentax K-X and shot family type shots for a while.
I basically threw money at cheap lenses and had the
  • Pentax 18-55
  • Tamron 75-300 4-5.6
  • Tamron 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6 LD
I have taken photography more serious and have bought better lenses for me. I now have:
  1. Sigma DC 17-50mm F/2.8 HSM EX DC
  2. Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens

I would like to save and get the Tamron AF 70-200mm f/2.8.

In the meantime, would you keep the 28-200 or 75-300? I can't find much difference in the glass, but know they are better quality at different lengths. I want the lens for soccer, cycling, etc. I know the 28-200 is versatile, but the 75-300 has more range (but at what cost?).
Thanks for your help!

Get rid of the 28-200. I have the 70-300 and I use it also for sports and sometimes portraits.

I would also recommend to sell the 28-200, although you will not be able to raise a 3-digit amount of dollars for it.

Just for curiosity, which of the many Tamron 28-200 is it (see below a list of exact names and Tamron model numbers from oldest to newest)?

* Tamron AF Aspherical 28-200mm 1:3.8-5.6 [71D]
* Tamron AF Aspherical LD 28-200mm 1:3.8-5.6 [Black: 171D, Silver: 271D]
* Tamron AF Aspherical LD IF 28-200mm 1:3.8-5.6 Macro [Black: 371D, Silver: 471D]
* Tamron AF Aspherical LD IF 28-200mm 1:3.8-5.6 [571D]
* Tamron AF Aspherical XR IF 28-200mm 1:3.8-5.6 Macro [Black: A03, Silver A03S], 2 versions with different rubber of each
* Tamron AF Aspherical XR Di IF 28-200mm 1:3.8-5.6 Macro [A031]

I have experience with both and got rid of both. Neither are delivering anything close to quality IQ. The DA55-300mm is a good and low cost alternative.

I had the Pentax 28-200, which was made by Tamron, and I kept my 70-300.

In my experience, the 28-200 isn't horrible at longer lengths and smaller apertures, but i always preferred the results at the same FL from the 70-300. And the 28-200 was horrible at 28mm wide open...

And my old 18-55 was better at the wide end than the 28-200.

But the hood helped the 28-200 more than i expected.

i use my 28-200 as a walkaround lens, but if you dont like one of those then ditch it.
