Pentax HD D FA 70-200mm f2.8 - Purchase advice.

Getting ready to spend the most I ever have spent on a lens.
Sold a lot of my lenses to make enough cash for this lens.

I wanted to ask if anyone had any advice for me. I was planning on purchasing from B&H. Is there any discounts available anywhere? Better price available someplace else?
I did take advantage of their price change guarantee once, which was nice. I imagine the price will drop, as soon as I buy it or a rebate will become available.

I will use the affiliate link when I purchase.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything before I pull the trigger. (or push the shutter)

Thanks,
randy

Hi,
For now all online merchants in US have the same price $1796.95. I'm not aware of any coupons or discounts, perhaps closer to the Christmas time.
B&H is one of the best. But be aware they're mostly closed in the next couple weeks due to Jewish holidays.
The lens is great, you won't regret.

Oh no, the holiday!
I was hoping to order it Monday.
I would like to use it for a high school football game on Friday.
I see Adorama has free overnight shipping. Might have to go with them.

Thanks sinus007, for the vote of confidence. Purchases always make me anxious, and I almost always feel sick afterwards.

This is one of those lenses that will rarely, if ever, have a discount. It did briefly dip to $1699 at the end of July, but IMHO the extra enjoyment you'd get by acquiring yours earlier will probably outweigh the $100 in potential savings

Thanks Adam, good point!
I mostly order from B&H, but with the holiday and Adorama's Free overnight shipping, I will probably go with Adorama. Do they offer great customer service like B&H?

I bought my 70-200 with them, as far as today, i havent needed the customer service for anything related of my purchase, i pay, they send, the lens was ok in every aspect (brown adorama box a little beat up due shipper, and honestly more thin than the ones of BH; but the lens box was intact due air bubbles). I think it was a great experiencel when i dont need to call the store for any trouble.

Funny, cause I think that's the only thing I have heard about Adorama in a positive or negative manner... "Adorama has poor packaging... not sure how it came in one piece"
With this being a very special purchase for me, it is a cause for concern. I am thinking the pentax packaging should be pretty decent as well. Wish I could pay them a few extra bucks to treat it like a baby, cause I know I will...

Thanks for your input virusn3t!

I've sort of forgot how much I paid for the DFA 150-450..... if that helps!
(and the 150-450 did cost a kidney here in Australia.....well actually I think the new DFA's in fact save your liver..... mostly because you can't afford to drink for a year after buying one!)

Ya, that helps... Hopefully your beautiful 150-450 images help you sleep better at night.
If I was rich, that'd be the next lens I got. Just sent my 150-500mm sigma to a buyer in CA. That lens, really treated me right, but I had to give it up for the 70-200mm. Going to shoot a high school football game tonight, and all I have is a 100mm macro and my 77mm. Wish I had that 70-200mm now!

Thanks!

You'll find the DFA 70-200 a fab match for what you intend to do with it.
