Sigma ex dc 10-20mm zoom lens pentax f4 - 5.6

Hi from the little island just off europe!

Firstly hello. First post on here after being a bit of a lurker for a while. When I have a bit more time I'll put a proper introduction up.

I'm after some advice regarding the sigma 10-20. I've been looking for a wide angle lens and these seem to be well thought of and available on the second hand market at a decent price.
My question is regarding the difference between the KAF fit and the HSM DC. I understand the KAF will fit on my K-r but I am unsure as to how not being an HSM will affect its operation, or if it makes any noticable difference to a complete amature like me.

There is no HSM version of this lens for Pentax. All the lenses on the market are the same and will fit your K-r.

There is the 10-20 f/4-5.6, which exists in standard and HSM version, but the HSM is not available for Pentax. Then there is the 10-20 f/3.5 HSM, which is HSM and also available for Pentax.

Both lenses seem to be similar in image quality (some reviews give the edge to one, others to the other), with the benefit of the f/3.5 having HSM, and the disadvantage of it having an 82 mm filter thread.

I have had both versions (4 - 5.6 and 3.5). Both of them are very nice

It's a good good lens and I frequently use it.
