What do people think of this deal on a Sigma 10-20?

On Amazon; Amazon.com: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Wide Angle AF Lens & Filters & Close-Up Macro Set & 9 Year Warranty for Pentax SLR: Electronics
I'm seriously thinking about buying this lens so this deal looks pretty good.

The same store routinely puts it on Ebay for 459.00 I've been saving for one myself and will buy it there.

If you buy it on Fleabay, do the search through live.com to get a decent discount (usually somewhere between 20-30%) by using BIN. You can save a bundle of money that way.

I would not get a "combo" that includes Opteka products - especially filters. That tripod design is too flimsy for a DSLR. That leaves you with q-tips and a warranty that may or may not be any good.

I have tried this a couple times but no search items ever turn up a special link to get the offer. Is this somehow automatically restricted to USA folk?

FM Reviews - 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM

At the above thread, you can read reviews by 143 people who own this Sigma lens--reviews are for all mounts. I agree, this is a tempting offer.

I like this better at $449:

Sigma AF DC 10-20/4-5.6 EX ASPHERICAL SUPER WIDE-ANGLE ZOOM LENS FOR PENTAX DIGITAL SLRS, Sigma AF DC 1020/4, 201109

What is interesting is all the other stuff they are offering. I note the close up filter set when you click on the larger image is 52mm, and no set like this is suited for the 10-20.

I would have to wonder how much of the extras are actually worth anything.

As for the lens itself, it is a great lens. Hard to comment on the price, as I bought mine almost 2 years ago, for more than this.

I did as well with the same results. Just endless searching and I could never find the mythical discount. Maybe Heather could provide the direct link? Or is it USA only?

WTH are you going to do with "close-up filters" on the 10-20? It already focuses pretty darn close, so close that if you're not careful, you'll bump the lens right into the subject (yay lens hood!)

Just buy the lens from B&H for $499 - Sigma | 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC Autofocus Lens for Pentax | 201109

It makes no sense to me to spend an extra $10 and only get the lens, vs the lens and an extra 5 year Sigma warranty. Perhaps I'm missing something???

I bought my Sigma 10-20 direct from amazon in late june. It was listed at $497.80 . Just under 30 days later, the price went down by $30. I took advantage of their 30 days price guarantee, and they refunded me the difference ! Now I see that amazon's price went up again - it's currently at $475. I think that's still a great buy.

I did actually order the lens and the package is on it's way to me (according to UPS).

Ok so the filters are Opteka, the UV one should be ok, for protection if nothing else.

The close up filters could be used on a different lens or sold.

The tripod will be ok for P&S, camcorder, flash or light.

If the warranty is bogus, I can frame it and anyone who frequents the forum will know about it.

The whole package (including shipping) cost me $504.90. From B&H it would have been $506.15, lens only.

Yeah, I guess if the filter is decent, it's a good deal. I have a nice Hoya S-HMC (or whatever their high quality line is) 77mm UV on my 10-20, and it cost around $50 from B&H.
