Help - My FA77mm has lost the snap in the shutter...

My trust FA77mm now over-exposes and when testing the shutter, it is no longer is snappy! It already went to Precision a year or two ago for correction of focusing issues.

So, what are my choices?

Will repair of the shutter be ~ $300 for at Precision?

Are there other places to go that might cost less and will do the repair correctly?

Or is it time to buy new.... (And I wonder what a used FA77mm needing repair might go for...)

Your help would really be appreciated.

C. Durfor

PS - there does not appear to be any oil on the shutter leaves...

Small terminology disconnect. I think you mean the aperture blades. The shutter on these cameras is a focal plane shutter.

If this indeed is just the aperture, and it happens when the lens is on or off the camera - it needs service. But sticky aperture typically can be addressed by any competent old school repair person. DCSHOOTER is a member here who does this type of work - you might try him or a local repair person.

I don't think you need a new lens - just a bit of refurbishing.

DCSHOOTER is not too far. Just a state or two north.
