There is a lot of great reviews for the Tamron, but this is my first and not off to a good start. I've only used this a couple of times and the photos were never really that sharp. I'm sure Pentax one is a better lens, however I'm enjoying the Tamron a lot, maybe you could try another copy and save yourself some cash for another lens) although, make sure to calibrate the lens if you get it, I thought it was soft at the long end, but after calibrating I get very sharp results
