The Stuff Dreams are Made of

Hi all,

Just looking through Ebay and the lens database lusting after lenses as I do from time to time. Just for laughs what would your dream Pentax kit be if money were no object? Try to keep it limited to a number small enough you could actually carry the kit about unassisted. Include your dream camera as well. Digital or film Ė itís up to you.

Cheers,

Tom G

  1. Add a K20D to my equipment list
  2. Add a DA* 200 to replace the A 70-210/4
  3. Add a DA* 300 to fit between 200 and 400
  4. Mortgage the house and find an elusive A* 250-600 / 5.6 to replace the M 400/5.6
  5. Buy an FA (not D-FA, FA) 100/2.8 macro
  6. Buy a modern tripod
  7. Buy a llama to pack item #4

It's not quite the the A*250-600, but it's in the ballpark:
KEH Camera: Pentax Manual Focus - Zoom Lenses - 135-600 F6.7 SMC PRESET (95) WITH FILTER, CAPS, CS, 35MM SLR MANUAL FOCUS ZOOM TELEPHOTO LENS

If money weren't an issue for me, I'd definitely pick up a K20, a 540 flash, and 1 each of all the lenses in the DA* series and FA Ltd. series.

I may be an oddity here, but my kit (used for planned and candid portraits) is where I want it to be. No further upgrades, except for a second external flash.

2x K10D w BG2 grips
FA 77mm
FA 50mm
Sigma 70mm 2.8 macro
Tamron 28-75mm 2.8

Dream Kit

Since I started this thread I guess I should add my own wish list. Iíve got a lot of old manual focus glass and while I like it a lot I yearn for more of the latest and greatest. Not surprisingly my dream kit is a lot more contemporary than the stuff I normally carry around. Itís a bit eclectic but my regular carry bag includes the following: Pentax K10 camera with battery grip, AF360FGZ flash: K 24 2.8, M 35 f2, M 50 1.4, A 100 2.8 macro, K 135 f 3.5, and K 200 f 2.5. Itís a bit heavy but suits my needs as a rule.

Iím not a big fan of zooms in general. Forgive this personal preference but this is my dream not yours. You can put anything you like in your dream bag.

My dream kit therefore consists only of primes and is mated to a K20 with battery grip and AF540FGZ flash.

DA 14 2.8 for the wide side.

FA 31 1.8 Limited - a consensus winner in most polls.

FA 77 1.8 Limited Ė portraits

A* 200mm f4 macro Ė just because

DA* 300 f4 Ė telephoto

I think this would meet all my needs nicely and not cripple me to carry it around. Anyway thatís my dream kit and Iím sticking to it.

Cheers,

Tom G

I'd like a collection of entirely screwmount prime lenses.

All focal lengths between 15mm and 2000mm.
All of them f2.8 or faster.

And like Albert said.... Some animal to carry them when required.

Well, I wouldn't mind one of these lenses

Meade | LX400-ACF 20.0"/508mm Catadioptric | 2008-MAX-02

And maybe a Hasselbad H3DII-50 50 megapixel digital back.

Hasselblad | H3DII-50 SLR Digital Camera Kit with | 70380532

That, or a K20D if it has to be Pentax

I hope they work together. I didn't research the combination that much I would be pissed spending near 6 figures if they didn't. lol

Sorry, it's not something I could carry unassisted. But it would be my dream photo setup.
