Mine sits in a dry cabinet. One of those smart kinds where you just set the humidity level of your choice and let it run.

I've never had fungus grow on my lenses (knock on wood) and I've lived in some humid environments in the past ... as well as in a home with a mold problem.

My method of storing lenses is in a padded camera case, with multiple silica gel packs (replaced every 6-12 months) and no front lens caps or filters on any of my lenses (though I put metal or hard plastic hoods on all lenses to protect the front elements).

So far, all my lenses are in good shape.
Where do you purchase the metal lens hoods?

Ziploc bags with silica gel sachets, inside neoprene lens cases.

Have considered a vacuum packer.

What size packets are you using? I see them measured in grams. A bag of 200 x 1 gram packets is $11 and a bag of 50 x 5 gram packets is $12. Either is fine on price, just not sure how long the stuff lasts and how often it should be replaced.

I'm also seeing the indicating type that change colors when they're "spent" and that people dry them out in an oven to reuse them.

I store all my camera equipment....Pentax, Canon, Leica and Mamiya in separate bags....all of LowePro...stand up type. All my lenses are in a huge LowePro bag till I need them.

Fortunately I live on the Canadian Prairies...a dry climate.
