Jupiter 11 A 135 F4 correct Pentax mount?

My brother bought me a Jupiter 11 A 135 F4 on a whim and I was wondering what sort of mount I would need for my K-3. I don't want to get this beer can of a lens stuck on my K-3 permanently if I can help it

Depends on the mount. If it has the m42 p-threaded mount, you need a PK to m42 adapter. Pentax Mount Adapter K (M42 Adapter) reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database and you can safely use it on the K-3

This is a t-mount lens (of a sort). You can swap a M42 mount for a PK t-mount.

How to use t-mount, preset lenses.

So I need to look for a PK t-mount?

There is probably already an adapter on there. Does it have a screw mount? Then it is either T-mount or adapted to m42 (m42 has a larger thread pitch 1mm instead of 0.75mm) See of you can screw the mount of or not.

PK t-mount is the simplest choice. M42 + M42-PK is perectly workable. Note that the operation of the lens would be the same in both cases (stop down aperture priority is normal), there are no aperture connections on a t-mount.
From my web page linked above:

"All these rings are two piece designs. There is a central collar, C in pic #8, which can be removed by unscrewing 3 small "grub" screws G located on the circumference of the ring. The main purpose of this is to be able to align lens and camera (particularly M42's) - loosening these three screws allows rotation of the ring against the collar. Then there are also some Soviet era lenses (Jupiter, Tair), pic #9, that use a t-mount style swappable mount, but without the collar. These normally have a -A designation in the name eg Jupiter 11-A, Tair 300-A. The end of the lens is machined like the collar. To swap mounts the collar is removed from the t-mount which is then slotted on the lens and the grub screws tightened.
One detail to note: the interior collar is usually, but not necessarily, interchangeable between mounts. It is typically ~ 48mm in diameter, but some are not, like the M39 t-mount in the pics. The latter will not fit on the Soviet lenses.

Ok brother flew in from London and I got the lens. Is it still possible to get an adapter to make this work? I certainly don't want to get this stuck on my K-3 if I can help it.

That looks like it has a Canon FD mount on it. You'll need to remove it somehow (it probably unscrews) to add the PK adaptor.

That is a Contax/Kiev RF Mount for rangefinder Camera's. Even if you are able to adapt it, it will be a close-up lens. No infinity because of the short register distance. There probably are adapters to adapt it to E-mount or M43. So sell it and buy a m42 Jupiter 11 from ebay. There are plenty.

Jupiter 11, rangefinder mount version as per above, not 11-A t-mount version.

Thanks guys. I'll have my brother look for the m42 Jupiter 11 instead. In the mean time this will make a nice looking paper weight
