da*16-50, fa31 ltd, sigma 18-35f1.8 ART, da 35 ltd macro. keep two

so here's the conundrum. i have all four, i can really only realistically keep two.

which would you keep, and which would you part with? i'm tempted to hold onto the sigma and the 31 and part with the two DAs

if it were you, and please consider sale value here, what would you do? no "keep them all" answers :P

Sell the sigma 18-35, keep the 16-50, sell the DA35, Keep the FA31.

Really tough choice. For me though, I would keep the DA* 16-50, and the 31 LTD. The 16-50 to give me a weather sealed lens, and the 31 to give me the f1.8 option. I think our replies will only make your choice harder !!!

if the 31 ltd wasn't a green fringing monster this would be a much easier choice. the sigma controls CA so nicely.

You can not sell any one of them. They are all so great and different.
sigma 18-35 is a great indoor event lens, none of other lenses can replace it;
Are you brave enough to sell FA 31?
If you need macro at this FL, none of other lenses can replace it.
16-50? WR and focal range makes it so hard to say good bye. I am thinking selling it if I buy a 16-85. But before 16-85 comes, it is an all-purpose lens in this range.

Sorry, I can not help you. really. keep them. sell your car instead.

Keep the 31 for sure. Then it would be a toss up between the Sigma 18-35 and the 16-50. I would keep whichever one didn't sell of the two.

the 31 to me is the hardest to let go. I sold one once but don't want to again.

I figure the 16-50 and 35ltd will be the easiest to replace if I regret the decision. so those two might go. I think I might take my time and see how I get along with the 18-35 before I make a choice with it

The FA31 doesn't do this:

Pentax K5IIs - Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 ART @ 21mm f/1.8 1/640th ISO 80.

Keep the FA 31, sell everything else, buy a Tamron 17-50 and a DA 15.

haha aw geez. that didn't need a 100% crop at all.

has anyone used the dock to adjust everything to the same error, then corrected the whole range with in camera correction? ive heard gripes about not being able to correct at infinity

The software for adjusting lens focus is rather limited:

These calibrations were established through testing with a Lensalign focus target, which is a focus calibration tool I highly recommend.

I do not recommend using in-camera AF adjustment with this lens. In-camera adjustments are best suited for primes, not complex multi-element zoom lenses. Setting AF correction for one focal length can throw the focusing accuracy for the rest of the zoom range off kilter entirely.

The upshot of the sigma calibration software is that you can correct for individual focal lengths, the problem is you can't correct at distances between 2m and infinity, which coincidentally is where most of the focus inconsistencies with this lens occur.

precisely, so can you test at infinity, find the required adjustment for infinity in camera, then take the rest of the table and correct over top of the in camera adjustment

It is better if you correct for AF calibration issues within the sigma calibration software. In camera adjustments will probably override any adjustments set in the calibration software.
