Which is why I just bought the 18-55 II for $169.00. Unbelievable little lens. Small, light, cheap, don't have to worry about it, contrasty as **** and unbelievably sharp if you stop down a bit. Now THAT'S walkabout lens. And if your kid kicks you in the nuts while on a swing and you drop your rig, you're only out less than $200.00, rather than $1,000.00+ on a rare optic that is very hard to find.

You are right about the size and weight of the FA*2870 lens. But I kinda get used to it already. Besides, the FA*80-200 is even bigger and heavier, but I use quite often nowadays too
