DA 10-17 on K-1

Just because it's bad weather, I'm sitting around, random thoughts come to my head. Like " I wonder how the fisheye does on the K-1", and "I should take a picture of this really bad weather."

Two birds with 1 stone...

10mm

14mm

17mm

Cropped and White Balanced 17mm version

You did not need to add a frame on the first shot, it was already framed by the lens. That's a side benefit I would say, you get the frame for free.

Over here in Austria, I'm impatiently waiting for the snow to come, most ski stations need to create artificial snow to open. On the other, as I can see, you are not lacking fresh snow in your area. Wait a few days that the snow stops with a bit of sun shine and it's going to be such a beautiful winter landscape.

I wonder if anyone will complain about the vignetting?
Someone else will notice how soft it is, without thinking about the snow that's falling between here and there.

I've often thought that the extreme vignetting could be used to make old-timey portraits.

I think the 10-17 remains quite usable on the K1 uncropped. You can either leave the lens hood as Normhead did, or go to a 16/9 crop, which I do frequently anyway. There is not much lose of utility in my view.

Maybe not with this lens, but with some. Just tell the salesman you want a lens that vignettes like it was the 1880s. Wait, there's probably an app of that.

There's some sort of gross vignette on the top right at 17mm but I think it's part of the scenery. Y/N? Soft vignetty corners are OK for some shots - this is where art and science part company in photography.

It's part of the roof, I already stuck the camera a foot out the window and composed with live view, but I still got part of the roof.
