thanks for the advise i didn't buy the lens. i did bid on the lens twice it never reached the reserve on both auctions and no one else bid over us $200. i did however buy a m42 100mm macro smc for aus $184 + 30 postage. in excellent condition maybe i paid a bit too much not sure. it has a hood and both caps but what the heck you cant take it with you lol. next i'll look at getting the samyang
