Nope, it's been discontinued for a while.

Thanks Adam. That's kind of what I thought.

I'm more interested to see brand new DFA 500mm f4.5 and some decent 1.4x and 1.7x TCs.

As are we all. Especially the TC. The DA HD is very nice but the K-1 really deserves a good TC that works on FF.

I would like to get one also but would hate to right the check for it. The prices on used ones are pretty high, I would have a hard time buying a used lens for that price but for a new one I would definitely look into pre ordering one if it went back into production.

Sigma has it ... Without the "DFA".
I wouldn't be too hopeful for Ricoh/Pentax releasing that.

"some decent 1.4x " ... There is one already. I'm sure you know that.

Does the current 1.4 tc work on the K1?

Ah, then Ricoh needs to get one for full frame pronto! I don't see the need for me to get the K1 but I remember how long folks had to wait for the 1.4TC and it was in big demand. I think that Ricoh also makes pretty good profit on the TC so maybe they'll come out with one for full frame pretty quick.

asahi man says the DA 1.4x TC initial run was 400 pieces - that fully sold out in mere hours. Subsequent batches have been 1000 piece runs and sell quickly.

He says he specifically asked about D FA 1.4x TC and got no response, but in another thread extols the virtues of a D FA300/2.8 + D FA1.4x TC versus a hypothetical 400/4.

Your guess is as good as mine.

When I asked local Sigma people some months ago I was told that this lens (as well as Sigma 300mm f2.8) had been discontinued. Well, in PK mount.

It's the truth. They've discontinued the 500 f/4.5 and released a 500 f/4, but not in K-mount. Last I checked there was still 1 available 500 f/4.5 from Sigma in Japan.
