Sigma 50-500 mm in a K-m (K-2000) body

Just came to buy a used 50-500 mm and took it to a natural site I find the focusing too slow....could it be problem of the body (Pentax K-m)?
Could it be lack of experience focusing at long distances? I had in mind a help from the AF ;-)

Looking forrward to hearing from you

I find it focuses pretty well on the K-3 and K-1.

Could it be the body that doesn't match the lens requirements? Or the fact that the batteries were half charge? Or...lack of experience with this lens?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Substantial advancements have been made to AF technology since the K-m, so it's likely the body in this case. Newer bodies are much more sensitive in low light, which is a key consideration when using a lens with a relatively slow aperture such as the 50-500mm.
