Can anyone help me!

I have a DCR 250 and clip it onto my 70-300mm tamron lense, but all that happens is unfocus and blur. Can't take any photos at all, its just blurry!

The images are uncropped.

Tamron 70-300mm @ 300mm, F/18 (1:2 macro)

Tamron 70-300mm + Raynox 250 @ 300mm, F/40 (2.7:1 macro).

A cicada is a large insect, but the Tamron/Raynox makes it look the size of a buffalo.
Can't stand Cicada's. In Vegas, they fly and hit you in the head...or face.

I'm not sure if this makes it behave like a regular macro lens but I would zoom all the way in or out depending on how you look at it, 300mm and turn the ring to the minimum focus distance on manual focus and then put the glass of the raynox right up next to a flower or something. If it is blurry then slowly pull the camera/lens back to see if you can find the in focus zone.

In other words, you can't autofocus with a Raynox attached. You have to move, either in or out to the subject, until focus is achieved.

I have one and its bloody hard to use, I only use it at 100mm to get any decent results, how did you get so close without scaring the fly away?

Maybe you all should walk through this thread:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/lens-clubs/74221-raynox-macro-club.html

EDIT: when I bought mine it was suggested I get the DCR-150 for my at that time zoom lens, which was a Sigma 70-300. The DCR-250 was suggested to be for lenses below 100mm.
