Will the Pentax DA 55-300mm PLM WR RE work on a K5 ??

Just wondering if that lens would work on a K5 because of its KAF4 mount.

Mod's: If that has been asked previously please delete or move accordingly? I couldn't find an answer.
Thanks !

No. The K-5 hasn't received a firmware update to support PLM lenses.

Correct, the camera won't be able to control the lens aperture. I think it will always shoot wide-open.

Manual and auto focusing should work, though it's not something I've tested.

I have a K-3 and K-5 but have only tried it on the K-3 where it works beautifully. I never tried it on the K-5. This is due to the older camera not able to control the electromagnetic aperture. By releasing the K-3 version 1.30 firmware upgrade Ricoh successfully tempted me enough to buy the 55-300 PLM. Now I suppose by not releasing a firmware upgrade for the K-5 they are trying to tempt me into buying the KP

Nope, while the KAF2 (crippled) mount on the K-5 series has all the required contacts to support a KAF4 lens, the body lacks support to control the in-lens aperture motor. The K-50 is the oldest body offering updated firmware for KAF4 support.
