Aperture got stuck!

On my Sigma 70-300, my aperture got stuck. The little aperture stick that you can manually move when the lens is off the camera won't move. Only when I push it reeeeeally hard will it move. It's like it's pressed against something really hard.

DOF preview won't do anything on this lens, and when I change the aperture on Av or M mode it won't change. Anybody know what the deal could be?

Thanks for your help! This forum has been a lot better for me than DPReview ever was!

It sounds like you've got something bent or jammed. Usually happens when by accident, you place the lens on table, somewhat hard, mount side down without rear cap on. That thingie you're talking about may have jammed in.

I guess its time for repair. Sorry about that.

Bummers. The aperture blade itself broke on mine, and it just flops around. I did not notice until the day I went to sell it. Needless to say, I still have it. I will perform an autopsy on it someday for the heck of it. Meanwhile the Pentax 55-300, which I had gotten a little earlier, has way better IQ.
