Missed out on a SMC-"A" 50mm Macro but scored today in the same Thrift Store

A couple days ago I hesitated in buying a SMC-A 50mm Marcro lens in our local Thrift store for $45 because I wasn't familiar with it on the Lens Review section. Went back to get it after reading the amazing Review when they reopened and it was Gone.
Today however I went back in and the lady said she had some more camera stuff from the same man that donated it.

Long story short there was a SMC-A 24-50mm f4 , a SMC-M 50mm f2.0 , and a SMC-M 50mm f1.4. They are all mint , with caps , in generic cases.
Also was a 4 section Gitzo Gilux tripod without a head , and a nice Macro Rail for K mount. Both also in excellent to near mint condition.
She had 2 of the lenses marked at $45 each , one was priced at $30 , the tripod at $35 , and macro rail at $15
I really only wanted the Gitzo tripod and 24-50 lens , but when she said $100 for all of it I Jumped !

Give me a minute to post it up in a couple quick pics................

The M 50/1.4 and (especially!) the A 24-50/4 for either $30 or $45 are true steals !!!

the 24-50 and 50mm 1.4 were $45 each. The 50mm 2.0 was the lesser priced one.

I wonder if there's some thrift store local to me selling similar items. That tripod looks pretty nice. A spare M 50 1.4 would suit me fine as well. M 50 2.0 might be fun to play with as well.

My local store (Goodwill) never has anything - I think it all gets uploaded to the website now.

A lot of the Goodwill stores are that way now. However around Portland Oregon , and Tucson Arizona its a smorgasbord of lenses in Goodwill.
Our little local thrift store isn't a Goodwill , Its a Local animal shelter store.
Believe me , our local stores don't hardly ever have a single thing. Then maybe after a year or two a glut of stuff shows up all at once.

Our local Goodwill is run by Goodwill of the Fingerlakes. I know for a fact that anything worth buying, and tons of stuff that isn't, goes on the website. They put a reserve price on everything and I never see it sell...

We also have the Salvation Army and Rescue Mission. I've never seen anything at one of those stores I would want to buy. At a lot of thrift stores the best stuff ends up in the employees car anyway, then eBay...

Its only in the last week that Ive found anything in three years. Its location is West of the Mississippi River , south of the Rockies , and just down the road by the River.

I was wrong about them not selling anything...someone met a very low reserve on a Spotmatic with a 7-element Super Tak 50/1.4...

shopgoodwill.com - #37128267 - 36910712 - Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic Film Camera - 2/18/2017 12:44:43 PM

I bet the battery cover doesn't open because there is a 30 year old mercury battery in there...

I keep an eye out at thrift stores as well as charity sales at our local Senior Center. a few months ago we bought household items to donate to a charity sale at out local Senior center and I walked out with an M 50mm F1.7 for $10. The ME super it was attached to was beyond repair but the lens is like new. looks and feels like a DA Limited. It somewhat makes up for a visit last year where some lucky person arriving before me got an SF1 with a F 50mm 1.4 just before I arrived.

I've bought things on shopgoodwill.com and have had mixed success. But over the last year or two a lot of the stuff goes for way more than it's worth, especially when you assume all of the risk.
