16-85 or the 16-50 is going to be the best option until we hopefully see the launch of the DA 12-28 WR.

I just use a OP/TECH Rainsleeve. Aside from your lenses, how do you currently keep raindrops off of your Lee filters, or is this a new adventure for you?
The Lee filters go on last, it is more when I walk around with the lens on the camera that concern me.

That would be a great focal length, any idea when a lens like this will be released by Pentax ?

It's been on the roadmap for years. Don't hold your breath...

Yes, have been thinking about the 16-85, but I think that it may overlap my other lenses too much as it is first most a traveling lens and not a dedicated landscape lens ! But I am no pro, so maybe it would do fine... A lot of great picture from it, that's for sure.

While WR is a nice feature for lenses used in landscape photography, I find it's rather over-rated, simply because it can be very challenging to keep water off the front element. That can even be a problem with standard zooms like the DA 16-85. But if you absolutely must have a WR wide angle zoom, the only thing to do is to wait for the new DA wide angle zoom, which will almost certainly be WR. It's not known when, or even if, Ricoh will release it (Ricoh has a lot on their plate right now filling out the FF and 645 lens lineups).

If you can handle not having WR and you like Sigma glass, either of the 10-20s, both of which are, at least in terms of technical specs, fine lenses, and self-recommending for Sigma fans. I'm not personally a huge fan of Sigma glass, so I bought the DA 12-24 instead. I've owned two copies of the lens, and my second copy is really very good throughout its range.

I would not recommend the DFA 15-30 for APS-C cameras, due to size, price, and lack of filter rings. It is WR, but good luck keeping water off it's massive front element.

wide angle DA12-24/4 with no doubt
ultra wide angle sigma 8-16 with no doubt

I have both, but since I got 8-16, the DA12-24 is almost not being used... 8mm is sooo adddiictivee

How big are your Lee filters? If big enough you might want to make the plunge for a 15 30..
Otherwise the da12 24 would be ideal. Not sure about your weather, but is it not like continuous change from open to stormy? Shield it while stormy.. bad idea? :-)
I am using the 100 Lee system so the 15-30 is too big.

the 15 30 is not really a good option anyhow for apsc owners.
If you haven't decided yet, i'd go for the 12 24 and just take care of it.. I suppose you're not going to take any pictures in the pouring rain, are you? I'd be more afraid of sand or continuous humidity than some rain to be honest.
my 2 cents..
